Access

Osaka University is located in the northern part of Osaka Prefecture. Osaka, boasting 1400 years of history, has a captivating combination of modernity and antiquity. Its ancient Osaka tomb clusters are recognized as objects of world heritage while the Shitenno-ji Temple, erected by Prince Shotoku, stands witness to the spread of Buddhism. The popular tourist destinations of Kyoto, Nara and Kobe are all accessible within an hour.

From Itami Airport, the campuses of Osaka University are accessible within half an hour. Osaka University has several campuses. The venue is in Minoh, and the on-campus accommodation (Kasugaoka House) is in Suita.

Getting to the on-campus accommodation (Kasugaoka House) :

-from Kansai Airport by JR (Japan Railway) Haruka express; get off at Shin Osaka. Then please take a taxi.

-from Kansai Airport, there is a limousine bus service to Osaka (Itami) Airport.

-from Osaka (Itami) Airport by Osaka Monorail; get off at Handai-byoin-mae Station. The Kasugaoka House is a 5-minute walk from the station.

Hiroko Nagasaki is a professor of Hindi literature at the University of Osaka. Her research focuses on early Hindi devotional literature and Hindi metrics. Recent publications are the co-authored book Triveṇī Texts of Three Literary Traditions in Early Modern Languages of North India. A Reader (2023) and ‘The Rhythm of Early Hindi Poetry as Reflected in the Piṅgala Literature’ (2024).
